At the London Borough of Bexley, we’re transforming how we work. The Council is embarking on a significant Transformation Programme to improve outcomes for residents and meet the savings requirements of the Medium-term Financial Strategy.
Central to the success of the Transformation programme will be our ability to embed real changes to ways of working in all parts of the Council. Your role will be to lead the Council’s approach to change management, drawing on your expertise and colleagues in HR&OD, and the Transformation team to design change management tools and techniques that will bring about lasting change.
The exact nature of the work will vary as the Transformation Programme progresses, but the initial focus will be on Children’s Services (early-help model and commissioning), commercial, customer (including digital), culture and our corporate infrastructure and systems.

Candidate Profile
You’ll have a proven track record in leading organisational change and transformation activities in local authorities or the wider public sector, with a strong understanding of best practice and industry standards in relation to change management. You’ll be able to pick up ideas quickly, build a strong understanding of service areas and be able to work collaboratively with services to enable them to realise the benefits from the changes to the way they work.
An undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in change, organisational development or business administration is essential, and a formal qualification in change management desirable. You'll have strong facilitation and coaching skills to support leaders and teams through change, and experience and interest in digital transformation and service redesign.
