Resettlement Officer

The Housing Service has been transformed over recent years  and continues to strive for excellence in the service that we deliver to our residents.  The Housing Resettlement Team are now an exceptional candidate who will join a small team, responsible for procurement of accommodation in the private sector to offer to clients in housing need, owed a duty by the wider housing department  This is pivotal in resolving homelessness and in turn reducing the reliance on emergency accommodation. 

To work effectively to procure private sector accommodation of a good standard in order for the service to discharge its housing duties to those that are homeless or potentially facing homelessness.

To carry out inspections of properties in order to ensure compliance in regards to size, type, health and safety and planning regulations.To match prospective tenants for properties that are compliant to ensure suitability and affordability prior to an offer of tenancy being made, and to secure photographic evidence of conditions prior to let.

To negotiate, agree and administer cash incentives, with landlords and other accommodation providers, liaising with the Finance Department to make accurate and appropriate payments in accordance with Council procedures.

• Evidence of Continued Personal Development
• Mediation skills

You must have a clean UK driving license and/or demonstrable means of transport to conduct the full duties of the post, which requires travel around Bexley and neighbouring areas.
