We are looking for a strategic, forward-thinking individual with drive and strong leadership skills to help both shape our distinctive local public health agenda and to inform decisions which will impact on the health and wellbeing of the population of Bexley.
As a UKPHR or GMC registered Consultant you will provide senior public health leadership and expertise on the following key areas: Public Health Intelligence, Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA), a number of core Public Health services (e.g. substance misuse, sexual health, tobacco control,) and technical support to the Bexley Wellbeing Partnership, with the overall purpose of making the best use of available resources to maintain and improve the public’s health and to provide expert advice on all health matters. In addition, you will support the Director of Public Health in the provision of information and advice to system partners on health protection matters.
You will have a high level of understanding of epidemiology and statistics, public health practice, health promotion, health economics and health care evaluation. Experience of working with a wide range of partners and organisations including Local Authorities, Voluntary Sector Organisations and NHS clinicians on health improvement and reduction of inequalities. This position will provide the post holder with an exciting opportunity to work with a dedicated and ambitious Public Health team who have a commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of our Bexley residents. The post holder will report directly to the Director of Public Health who is leading the development of a new Health and Wellbeing Strategy which has the potential for a significant system transformation across the borough. As our Consultant you will be pivotal to this work particularly in terms of supporting the delivery of the prevention agenda, being an ambassador for this work and developing the necessary partnerships to achieve our joint ambitions for the Borough and its residents.
