Bexley Governor Services is seeking an organised and motivated Governor Services Officer to join our established team.
This is a varied and rewarding role providing professional governance support to schools and academy trusts across the London Borough of Bexley. Working closely with Governors, Trustees, Headteachers, Chief Executives and senior leaders, you will play a key role in ensuring that governing bodies operate effectively and in accordance with statutory requirements.
The successful candidate will provide clerking and governance support to a portfolio of schools and trusts, including preparing agendas, attending meetings, producing high-quality minutes and advising on governance procedures and best practice. The role also involves supporting complaints, disciplinary and exclusion panels, maintaining governance records and contributing to the ongoing development of the Governor Services traded service.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong organisational and communication skills who is looking to develop specialist expertise within school and academy governance.

Please note that the successful candidate will be required to attend schools and meetings across the borough, including evening meetings.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce accurate and concise minutes.
- The ability to build effective working relationships with Governors, Trustees, Headteachers and senior leaders.
- Confidence in providing procedural advice and guidance.
- The ability to work independently and use initiative while also contributing positively to a team environment.
- Good IT skills and experience using Microsoft Office applications and database systems.
- Flexibility and a commitment to delivering high-quality customer service.
Desirable experience includes:
- Governance, committee administration or clerking experience.
- Experience working within education, local government, academy trusts or a similar governance environment.
- Knowledge of school governance structures and statutory requirements.
