This is a position for an experienced practitioner with at least three years post qualifying experience as a social worker. You will have responsibility for managing a caseload of more complex and higher need cases within a child protection context. You will be required to take appropriate initiative when working to support children and their families. You will also support other practitioners in the team through mentoring, advice, support, and occasional shadowing on visits or for meetings. There is a high likelihood of court involved work in this role.

An experienced and child-centred Senior Practitioner within a Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub, committed to delivering high-quality safeguarding responses that promote the safety and wellbeing of children and young people. Skilled in applying the Signs of Safety practice model to assess risk, identify strengths, and develop clear, outcome-focused plans in partnership with families and professionals.
Demonstrates a respectful and professional approach when working with children and families, ensuring that the child’s voice, wishes, and lived experience remain central to all decision-making. Experienced in engaging with families, children and young people to build meaningful relationships that inform robust assessments and interventions.
Strong ability to manage and coordinate cases, undertake timely assessments, and implement and review plans that address unmet safety and welfare needs. Works collaboratively with family networks and multi-agency partners, leading and chairing meetings where required, and promoting the use of support networks and contingency planning wherever possible.
Maintains a sound understanding of statutory responsibilities, legislation, and safeguarding procedures, ensuring all practice is compliant and defensible. Able to analyse risk critically and make informed recommendations to managers regarding escalation and legal intervention where necessary to secure the safety of children.
