  • This is a pivotal leadership opportunity at the London Borough of Bexley, offering autonomy and the chance to deliver real, measurable change. You will lead up to two critical transformation programmes that are central to achieving substantial financial savings underpinning the Council’s Medium Term Financial Strategy (MTFS). More importantly, the programmes will secure sustainable, measurable improvements in service quality and deliver a better experience for every Bexley resident.

    You will act as a trusted advisor and critical friend to the Corporate Leadership Team (CLT) and senior leaders, providing expert advice and strategic challenge. At the same time, you will be accountable for end-to-end programme delivery and for leading a high-performing team. Success in this role demands exceptional political acumen and emotional intelligence to navigate a complex environment, making this an ideal role if you thrive on autonomy and have a proven track record of translating ambitious strategy into successful, evidenced outcomes.
     
    Candidate Profile

    We are seeking three Transformation Programme Leads with proven senior-level experience in directing and delivering large-scale, complex transformation programmes that achieve demonstrable financial and organisational impact.

    The ideal candidate will have:
    • Extensive experience moving seamlessly from strategy to implementation, translating corporate objectives and complex data into clear, deliverable roadmaps.
    • Expertise in governance, benefits realisation and risk management, enabling you to secure buy-in and challenge the status quo.
    • Considerable personal resilience and political acumen to operate effectively in a dynamic, high-pressure environment.
    • Strong people leadership skills, with the ability to manage senior staff, build internal capability and inspire change through professional, calculated risk-taking.
    • Outstanding communication skills to convey challenging information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences, connecting strategic vision to stakeholder values.
