Bexley is a great place in which to live, work or study. It has the best of both worlds - close to the centre of London but still a green, safe, and friendly place to be. And our mission is to make Bexley even better by tackling health inequalities, supporting residents to live the best lives possible and to reach their potential.
To help us achieve our ambitions we are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, team player to join our public health team. This is an opportunity for someone looking to broaden their existing knowledge of public health or bring existing transferable skills to develop a public health career.
You will build your knowledge in public health and support in the development and implementation of agreed public health programmes linked to identified local health priorities that support adults. You will contribute the development of key strategies and plans and ensure that commissioned programmes improve resident outcomes and help tackle health inequalities.
Collaborative working is integral to delivering for our residents and you will have the opportunity to work with a range of partners and stakeholders including across the local authority, the voluntary and community sector, within the NHS structure (at regional, ‘place’, and neighbourhood levels), and other relevant partners, such as housing associations and businesses.
This post is offered on a 1 year fixed term basis.
If you are enthusiastic about making a difference to the lives of residents and developing a career in public health, then we would like to hear from you.
For an informal discussion about the role please contact Shanie Dengate, Telephone: 02030453610, [email protected].
About you:
You must have a formal qualification, preferably to a degree level, in a discipline relevant to the responsibilities of Public Health within a Local Authority context, or equivalent work experience.
Have knowledge of public health concepts and have a passion for improving health and wellbeing.
Have strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to write concise and evidence-based reports and briefings for a range of audiences.
Your adaptability and organisational skills will enable you to manage competing priorities, and you will remain flexible and adaptable working within the team.
Be able to work across boundaries and contribute effectively to partnership working.
Able to demonstrate your passion and commitment to ongoing professional development and your ability to deliver against the Public Health Skills and Knowledge Framework.
You want to ‘Make Bexley Even Better.’ We encourage residents to apply.
We will offer you support in a friendly and supportive environment and assist you in your development. We will invest in you by offering training and learning opportunities where available, including working across the team and within our partnerships to develop your skills and knowledge.
