  • About The Role

  • This is a unique and exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in transforming safeguarding services for children and families in Bexley. As part of our Families First Transformation, the MACPT team will require a Lead in Education.

    As the MACPT Lead Education Advisor, you will be at the forefront of the implementation of the Families First reforms, ensuring that the voice, experiences and educational needs of children and young people are fully represented within safeguarding and child protection decision-making. Working within Bexley's newly established Multi Agency Child Protection Team (MACPT), you will bring specialist education expertise to complex safeguarding situations and help shape the future of integrated multi-agency practice.

    This influential role will act as the key link between schools, education providers, Children's Social Care, Family Help Services, MASH, Health and safeguarding partners. You will provide professional leadership, consultation, challenge and support, helping to strengthen collaborative working and improve outcomes for children and families across the borough.

    As part of an innovative multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to strategy discussions, child protection planning, service development and practice improvement, ensuring that educational safeguarding perspectives are embedded at every stage of a child's journey. You will also play a key role in developing new ways of working, supporting service transformation and helping to deliver Bexley's ambitious vision for children and families.

    Candidate Profile

    We are looking for an experienced education safeguarding professional who is passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people and influencing practice across a multi-agency safeguarding system.

    To be successful in this role, you will have significant experience working within education settings, alongside a strong track record in safeguarding and child protection. You will bring expert knowledge of safeguarding legislation, Keeping Children Safe in Education, and experience of working effectively with social care, health, police and other safeguarding partners.

    You will be confident in analysing information, assessing risk, providing professional challenge and influencing decision-making within complex safeguarding environments. We are looking for someone who can build strong relationships, communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and contribute to service improvement and transformation activity.

    Applicants must hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification, together with a degree-level qualification or equivalent professional experience. Evidence of continuing professional development in safeguarding and child protection is also essential.
